What has happened to the Pathway to Residency, your Honourable Minister Kenney?!
Many immigrant women have come to Canada as caregivers since the mid- 19th Century to give the best care possible for our children, elderly parents and people with special needs. This much-needed care has been vital to building healthy and strong communities. But over this time, immigration rules have been changed to make it more difficult for caregivers to settle in Canada with their own families. Now the federal government wants to take away caregivers’ hard earned right to apply for permanent residency. Enough! It is time to ensure dignity and respect for caregivers. It is time for permanent residency for all caregivers in Canada. It is time for permanent residency on arrival for caregivers.
